Question and Answer

How do I find the right Olde English Bulldogge to fit with my families activities?

Olde English Bulldogges have a natural ability to fit into most any lifestyle. An OEB just simply wants to be with you what ever you decide to do. But the OEB is also very much an individual. A careful look at what you expect from your Dogface before deciding on which puppy your want to take home can help you find that perfect new best friend.

Family with Children

Individual looking for a Companion

1)With very young children look for a mild mannered puppy from the start. The puppy who is non-dominate, tends to look to you for direction, and has had a gentle nature from the start would be best. We often recommend a female as they tend to be a little more nurturing and gentle with toddlers, or the puppy when you visit that follows the toddler at a respectful distance, beside or behind. The one who nuzzles, and watches is not always a female and is a good consideration.

2)With pre-teens or young teens - looking for that match of activity is a good place to start. Ask yourself is my child active outdoors and sports? A more active, fun loving, exploring puppy may be your best choice. Or my child is more often reading a book, taking slow walks, just wants someone at his/her side to talk to? Then looking at the more cautious, but attentive and responsive puppy is what you may want to consider. Ultimately your child's best friend will be the puppy with the closest temperament and personality. We welcome any information you wish to share towards this purpose.

3)Do not buy a puppy with the intent and purpose of the child, what ever age to be the only one responsible for caring for your Dogface. While making your child responsible, and including your child in training and raising your puppy is good for both the child and puppy/dog, an Olde English Bulldogge, like most breed of dogs, is a naturally social animal. Your participation in the basic needs such as food and vaccinations of your Dogface is important, but your social interaction, enjoyment and love of your family member is even more so.

4)Be prepared for a commitment to love, enjoy, and care for your Olde English Bulldogge for the life of your OEB. Generally, most Breeders and Veterinarians agree, a life span of 10 years is common. 13 to 15 years is not unheard of. When your pre-teen or teen is heading to collage, or during sports seasons, when they have little time to do more than study at home, or how about when that new girl/boy friend is the love of their life and the time spent with their life long pal gets shorter and shorter, what will you be happy to do? We ask that you include yourself in your Dogface puppies life from the start. Kid in school, all day, take that extra 1/2 hour before he/she comes home to walk, enjoy your dog/puppy, build a relationship, play with and join in the activities your child and dog enjoy, be their for both. In this way your Olde English Bulldogge grows into the FAMILY companion not just "The kid's dog"

What does your lifestyle include.

1) Lots of outdoor time? A more active Olde English Bulldogge, with a bit of explorer, play and come back type of temperament might be just what you are looking for.

2)Or do you prefer to stroll the park or nature trail, slow and steady looking at what is amazing around you? Then the thoughtful puppy, to look at might not be the first to rush about. The puppy who comes up in a the slow easy motion, with an easy but watchful disposition would be a good one to look at twice.

3)How about the easy laid back laze in the sunny afternoon type? We have found with a decent walk, some good playtime, a good meal, and most Olde English Bulldogges simply enjoy being beside you.

4)An Olde English Bulldogge, most Breeders and Veterinarians agree, a life span of 10 years is common. 13 to 15 years is not unheard of. We ask that you be prepared to make the commitment to love, enjoy and care for your Dogface for his/her lifetime.
